Visit Adamson's Monument 1

“On 20 August 1989, at high noon, gunshots rang out at Kampi ya Simba also known as Lion Camp,  in Kora National Reserve. George Adamson nicknamed Bwana Game, after his 1968 biography, died in a hail of bullets, fired by Somali ‘shifta’ bandits together with two camp assistants.”  George died saving the life of a German visitor to the camp. Kenya and the world lost a hero and an iconic conservationist who had dedicated his life to preserving the natural habitat for wildlife, especially lions.  George spent most of fine life restoring the 1700 km2 Kora National Reserve from an untamed arid land to a wildlife prolific game park
