Take a stroll around the Lamu Old town

Take a stroll around the Lamu Old town 1

Lamu village is believed to be more 600 years old and all that remains of this ancient Arab City is a mosque, a Koran school and a pillar tomb, which has insets of Ming porcelain. Visitors get into the town/Island exclusively by the sea – usually by creaking diesel-powered motorboats from the road-head at Mokowe, or by motorized dhows from the airstrip on Manda Island. Either way, the old-world ambiance in Lamu remains.
