The Nairobi Arboretum dates back in the early 20th century when the construction of the Kenya Uganda railway was going on. It was originally established in 1907 as a trial area to see if fast-growing non-indigenous trees (needed to fuel steam locomotives) could survive Nairobi’s climate. Many did and went on to be grown commercially, but there is also a sizeable collection of Kenya’s indigenous trees here. Today the park is a fantastic garden and environment to have a quiet family get together, picnics, unwinding or juts meditation & enjoy the peace and quiet.
