Located about a 2 hours’ drive from Machakos town, Ol-Doinyo Sabuk has some the best panoramic views from the hill. The park ecosystem consists of a mountain, at least 45 species of birds including white-browed sparrow weaver, grey-headed sparrow weaver, African pied wagtail, mourning dove and augur buzzard.
Buffaloes are the most dominant animals in this ecological site. Ol Donyo Sabuk Mountain is densely forested & is known to the local Kikuyu as ‘The Mountain of the Buffalo’, and to the Maasai as ‘The Big Mountain’.
