Nyangweta Forest

Nyangweta Forest 1

The 104-hectare softwood forest in the southern parts of Kisii is its only gazetted forest.  Despite the hilltops been poorly managed by uncontrolled grazing and farming the Nyangweta Hills and Ibencho Hills are still a pleasing landscape and a revered bird-watchers zone. The Nyangweta was planted with commercial pine, eucalyptus and cypress trees in 1958,  which were ready for harvesting after 30 years.
