Situated 6 kilometers from Nairobi’s CBD, the Ngong Forest Sanctuary is one of the few natural forests within the capital city of Kenya. Occupying a 620-ha piece of forest carved out of the larger Ngong forest, the sanctuary is characterized by indigenous trees interspersed with grassy patches, dams, and streams. Here you can spot up to 120 bird species, 35 species of small mammals and numerous insects and reptiles. You can also visit one of the free two-hour guided group forest walks held on Tuesday and Thursday; meet outside the restaurant at the Ngong Racecourse at 9 am.
