Nandi Rock is located in Kaptumek, Nandi County, and is part of the Bongoje Forest Reserve Reserve. The area was chosen for conservation as early as the 1970s, but it wasn't until 1994 that it was designated as a Forest Reserve.
The rock has an elevation of 1,716 meters and provides great views of the larger forest reserve. It is a 30-minute climb from Kaptumek.
The rock is culturally significant to both the Nandi and the Luo because it marks the escarpment boundary between the tribes.
