Sitting on 129 sq km lies Lake Baringo, one of only 2 freshwater lakes in the Rift Valley. Lake Baringo is at the threshold of Northern Kenya, and its freshwaters are an oasis in the arid plains. The Lake is a renowned birding location in Kenya, boasting over 500 species of birds including; Pelicans, Cormorants, Fish Eagles, and the famous Flamingoes. The area is also home to a number of species such as Hippo, Crocodile, Zebra, Klipspringer, Grant’s gazelle, Chandler’s Mountain Reedbuck, and the rare Greater Kudu.
The lake itself is truly beautiful, surrounded by volcanic ranges that stretch as far as the eye can see.
