Originally a coffee plantation out in the country, the tradition of sampling some of the finest Kenyan coffee still exists. The grounds are extremely beautiful which makes up for a relaxing place to spend an hour or two wandering around.
Karen Blixen Museum was built in 1912 by Swedish Engineer Ake Sjogren. Karen and her husband bought the Museum house in 1917 and it became the farmhouse for their 4500-acre farm, of which 600 acres was used for coffee farming. The farmhouse gained international fame with the release of the movie ‘Out of Africa’ an Oscar-winning film based on Karen’s life events. It is now a Historical site where people visit and shop handicrafts, posters and postcards, the Movie ‘Out of Africa’, books and other Kenyan souvenirs.
