Jamia Mosque Nairobi
Jamia Mosque is the largest & most important Mosque in Kenya. The Mosque was founded in 1902 by Syed Maulana Abdullah Shah but construction did not begin until 1925, and was completed by 1933.
Located between Kigali Road & Banda Street in Nairobi, Jamia mosque is still the most significant Islamic center in Nairobi with a capacity of over 8,000 worshippers. There is a library, training center, a men’s prayer hall on the ground floor, and a women’s prayer hall on the first floor.
Non-Muslim visitors are welcome to visit the mosque and the only requirement is that you take off your shoes and for the ladies cover your head.
