Ivory Burning Site and Picnic Area

Set inside the Nairobi National Park, the Ivory Burning Site and Picnic Area is an important icon of wildlife protection and offers a broad area of open grass, picnic tables, shade and latrines.

Here you also get to see ashes of the Ivory burnt by Kenyan presidents (different times) after the Ivory was recovered/seized from poachers within the country or in transit through Kenya.

While heading to Nairobi National Park, spend some time here as you read the story of tonnes of tusks and horns that were burnt here to ensure they do not reach the market and fuel more poaching of African elephants and rhinos.
