Mount Kenya is Africa’s second highest mountain at 5,199m (17,058 feet) and the highest of all Kenya Mountains. Most people who visit Kenya on safari only get to see the Mountain from a distance, albeit a spectacular view. Even from a distance the mountain is hugely impressive and it is easy to see why it dominates the lives of the people in the area in such a meaningful way – and there are the adventurous few who actually climb the mountain. Forr those who hike Mt. Kenya enjoy its tarns and alpine meadows; exotic, equatorial, high-altitude vegetation; sunbirds, hyrax and soaring eagles make the walk around the peaks one of the most beautiful expeditions in the East African mountains.
