Crescent Island Game Sanctuary has more animals per acre than any other Park in Kenya. The Game Sanctuary is located on about 12 minutes of boat riding away from the shores of Lake Naivasha. It is a protected reserve where you can tag along with zebras, antelopes, and giraffes as they come to the water’s edge to quench their thirst. It is, therefore, one of the fewest places in Kenya where you can enjoy a nature walk alongside wild animals.
The Sanctuary is a home to Maasai giraffe, zebra, diks diks, steenbok, impala, and gazelles. A Trip to this ‘Island’ is truly an unforgettable experience. Being a submerged rim of a volcanic crater, the hill creates a 360-degree view across the Lake from Longonot to Hell’s Gate to the Mau Escarpment and onto the Aberdares.
Walk freely among the wildebeest, giraffe, impala, and zebra but keep your distance though so as not to provoke the animals. You can enjoy the wildlife and tranquil environment. Animals you may see are the giraffe, zebra, Thompson’s and Grant’s gazelles, waterbuck, eland, and a great many bird species.
