Getting Around Narok
Narok is almost 3 hours from Nairobi if you are traveling by road via Kamandarua – Mai Mahiu – Narok. The county has a road network of approximately 2,798.4 Km and it’s absolutely beautiful and smooth.
If you choose to travel by road will be also a good choice if you are curious to see Kenya’s countryside. The drive from Nairobi to Narok will take you about 2-3 hours, the road offers a few breathtaking view and scenery. As you drive you will you will see the suburbs of Nairobi, the Great Rift Valley escarpment and the escarpment’s viewpoint at Mai Mahiu where you will be able to look down the escarpment. A 4*4 car is advised for this drive especially if you are routing to the Mara and the adjacent tour destinations.
If your ultimate destination is the Mara and you don’t want to spend so much time on the road, you are in luck. Direct flights from Nairobi- Wilson Airport and companies flying include; Safari Link, Air Kenya, and FLySax. Flying in a light aircraft is an experience in itself. You will have an awesome time seeing an aerial view of the country. The aircrafts fly fairly low and you will be able to see several remote villages. Other direct flights are from Mombasa (MOI or Ukunda Diani) as well as to/from Nanyuki.
