How to get to Laikipia
Laikipia is pretty much accessible by road and air transport. So whether you want to drive yourself or fly high like a king as you enjoy the beautiful views of Mount Kenya, the possibilities are limitless. If you are traveling from Nairobi, Nanyuki and Nyahururu towns located about 200kms from Nairobi and can be accessed through the Nairobi-Nanyuki Road or Nairobi-Nakuru highway which branches off at Gilgil to use the Gilgil-Nyahururu road.
To Nanyuki, the drive on takes roughly three hours from Nairobi that is via Sagana, and Karatina. If you are visiting from Nakuru, Laikipia can be reached via Nyahururu a drive of some 130 km which also takes about three hours.
If you prefer air transport, many ranches and sanctuaries have their own airstrips, which can be used by charter aircraft. Between them, Air Kenya, Fly540 and Safarilink run scheduled flights direct from Nairobi to Nanyuki Airfield, Lewa, Loisaba and Samburu. Private air charters can also be arranged. Tropic Air, located in Nanyuki, operates aeroplanes and helicopter air charters within Laikipia, and beyond.

If you want to drive yourself around or be driven, cars are readily available for hire and taxis are all over Nairobi and Laikipia sub-towns as well. The vehicles themselves can be anything from dilapidated Peugeot 504 pickups with a cab on the back to strong and tolerating 4WD vehicles.
