Led a free spirited Governor HE Isaac Ruto, Bomet County is heavily driven by agriculture as their main economic activity. Apparently even their political leader is a farmer during his part time. Occupying a little over 1,997km2 of the Kenya’s landmass, Bomet County is a little bit short handed when it comes to tourism resources distribution.
However, the geographic nature & distribution of terrain makes the county a unique destination for Agro-tourism. Tea is the main income generating activity just like its neighboring Kericho County. Just a few minutes from Bomet town lives an interesting urban center called Tenwek, whose richness in Kalenjin myths and historical cultures is a bit intriguing. Tenwek also hosts the largest mission referral hospital in the South Rift region, Tenwek Mission Hospital.
Apart from the South- Western Mau National Reserve and Tenwek Falls, Bomet prides as the home to the largest number of legendary Kalenjin Musicians in the region. There also some unexplored caves and waterfalls in different sub-counties of Bomet and large rivers like Itare & Chepkuro which nourish the county.
