Getting around By Boats.
Sailing dhows are available for short excursions or longer sailing safaris. Motorized open boats and speedboats operate between the airport, Mokowe (the road head on the mainland) Shela, Manda and Lamu town, as ferries, leaving when they are full and are also available for private hire. All provide life vests, which passengers are required to wear.
