By Road

Nyeri town is easily accessible by road from Nairobi and other neighboring towns. Public transport is most affordable means and there are regular matatus servicing the area from Nairobi and other major towns around. It takes about two hours to travel to Nyeri from Nairobi and relatively a shorter time from the neighboring counties like Murang’a & Kirinyaga. Car rental is also a viable option and in order to rent a car one must be over 18 years old & must hold a full license for at least a 1 year.

By Air

There is no established air transport means to Nyeri but there are two airstrips; one at Mweiga on the Nyeri-Nyahururu road and another at Nyaribo on the Nanyuki-Naromoru road about 15km from Nyeri town for those who prefer private choppers.

Getting Around Nyeri

Getting around Nyeri is pretty easy as there numerous options of local transport means. While in Nyeri town the main street, Kimathi Way is where you will find banks and the supermarkets while running parallel Kenyatta Road has more banks and petrol stations. To the southeast of the two is the market and the bus and matatu stands.
